Researching about OsteoArthritis…

Thanks to the internet and all the tons of information and all those videos on youtube…I spent for the next 10 days reading all about arthritis,  degenerative diseases and also between started taking second opinion.

My physician and good friend Dr.Girish who is an Ayurvedic practitioner, completely ruled out surgery. He knows me close to 14 years now, my lifestyle, activities at farm and my mental strength. His advise was plain and simple, try conservative methods first…which includes

* Reduces activities for few months meaning slow down your farm activities, squatting, running behind cows, etc..

* Shed from body weight

* Take some presciption Ayurvedic medicine which aids in cartilage rejuvenation/regrowth (but he warned the medicine will take at least 3 months to show some signs of improvement in the cartilage) and also advised discipline in physical excersises to build calf, thighs and hamstring muscles

* You may need surgery in your lifetime, but why not postponse for another 4-5years by bringing in few changes…

I obviously liked his advise, since I detested the idea of having metal inserts in my body…

Pain continued, medication and excersise started and so also my research activity on the internet started getting more intensive.

There were days when my pain was so high, that maybe surgery would alleviate the pain and I can return to normal life…so the dilemma started in my mind…

During my research, I stumbled across videos from Hospital of Knee and Spine at Houston, Texas…in one video one of the doctors on the panel mentioned how in US, the insurance insists that doctors must first advise OA patients weigth loss, and physiotheraphy and try other conservative methods before the insurance can approve for a TKR surgery ….

Well well…this video brought the level of dilemma in my mind byalmost 80% …this was perfectly inline with what Dr.Girish had advised…

So while I continued to research on OA over the internet…I decided to visit Jindal Naturopathy Hospital (as an alternative to cure OA and also shed some weight), also I decided to take advise of one more orthopedic…

By now, the edema in my ankles was getting worse as days passed. I had to make sure to keep pillows below my feet while I sleep, so that the edema was subside….well for sure the edema would have subsided by morning partially..but before 10AM it would be back…as I went around doing my routine activities …not even serious farm activities….

I was losing hope…and then one day my husband and myself finally visiting Jindal Naturopathy hospital…..
