All the anger and the pain

Take my scars and take the blame

All the ashes of our hopes

Nothing lingers in the smoke

Thoughtless words and hollow lies

Take the burden; cut the ties.

Into darkness I might fall,

But forgetting not the call

I stand before the tide

Tired but alive

Watching all the dead go by

Wrapped in layers of their lies

Freedom might be to be mocked,

Trapped inside the heavy stocks.

But a heart set free in light

Cannot surrender to the night.
