We left DMACC Ankeny Campus this afternoon and travelled via bus to Omaha, Nebraska. Creighton University was our first stop, and we arrived in time for dinner, a short presentation, and a tour of campus. Although in the heart of Omaha, it had a small camp feel, and everything was within walking distance. There are about 4000 undergrads and 4000 graduate students here with 9 colleges-3 of those being undergrad programs. It is a Jesuit school, and the admissions rep. said that is what sets Creighton apart from a school like Drake, which would be similar in size and programs. They stressed their focus on the whole person and acceptance of individuals as well as being able to get started in a major and research right away instead of having to wait as some colleges expect. Once we left Creighton, we made our way across town to Iowa Western Community College. We didn’t have any programming the first evening, so we spent the nice evening walking through campus. It was really in the middle of nowhere, so there was nothing to walk to except the campus itself. It had a nice residential feel instead of a commuter campus such as DMACC. The rooms were nice although a bit cave like with few windows. We slept in the suites and our stay was very nice.
