Let the games begin.

Hello Journal World,

My name is Kelly and for the next semester this will be my outlet for expressing all things art, music and movement. The reason that I’m starting this journal is because it’s required for a class I’m just starting to take at NYU, however maybe I’ll love having a journal so much that it will continue much longer than the semester, but it’s only the first day so let’s not jump to any conclusions.

Today I felt a lot of things. I felt excitement, anxiety, joy, envy, and determination, if you can call that last one an emotion. Being that today is my first day of graduate school and a brand-new University, let alone one of the largest Universities in the country, I felt like I was ready for anything to come my way, and I’m thrilled with how my graduate career started.

Both of the classes I had today were in an intimate setting where the instructors showed how much they cared about their students and our success, as well as being able to meet returning students and feeling welcomed into what will now be, for the next two years, home. I look forward to what I will be learning over the next two years and I’m sure that I will have much more to write about as the semester progresses. But for now, I am more than ready to be in a new environment with people who are just as driven as I am to succeed and hone our crafts as professionals in our field.

So, tomorrow will be yet another new day, with new people and new experiences. I promise, stick with me and things are sure to become more interesting, for better or for worse.

Here’s to the rest of our lives,

“And now we welcome the new year, full of things that have never been”

-Rainer Maria Rilke
