Our Powerful Thoughts
Change your thoughts and you change your world. — Norman Vincent Peale
We must get the perfect vision, the perfect conception; we must enlarge our thought until it realizes all good, and then we must swing right out and use this Almighty Power for definite purposes. — Ernest Holmes, “Creative Mind”
Everything begins with a thought; everything begins in consciousness. We are told, “As above so below” and also, “As within so without,” meaning everything begins and proceeds from the invisible realm to the visible. Thoughts are things, and those thoughts we keep going back to over and over, with emotion and conviction, are the thoughts that eventually manifest as conditions in our lives. That’s great if we are keeping positive thoughts and uplifting, life-affirming states of mind. But it’s not so great when our thoughts and emotions are consistently going back to ideas of lack, loneliness, struggle or fear. This is why it is important to get that perfect vision, as Dr. Ernest Holmes said. We must enlarge our thought until it realizes all good, and that takes training our mind. We get to choose thoughts that are helpful, positive and expansive and when our mind wanders away to those dark and scary places, we get to return it to the perfect vision. This practice is like paper-training a puppy! We don’t have a bad puppy, we have an untrained puppy. When he wanders off, we gently and lovingly return him to the paper.
I choose my thoughts, and today I choose loving, life-affirming thoughts
