you crawled into my body like
a centipede. all the while I’m
screaming in agony and pretending
there is still a sun in the sky
or a moon at night.
I think of the ocean.
the waves.
the silence,
all the while you’re latching
yourself to my veins and tying
them in pretty little bows.
you wait for my blood to clot.
you wait for my blood to rot.
you slither out when the sun
returns and leave me for the
crows. they pluck out my eyes
and ravage the decaying
flesh left on this cracked
and broken shell. my bones
disintegrate into the earth
and no one knows I was
ever here.
