If I could, I would…
I would stop the erosion of cliffs
and reach out a hand to those standing
at their edges
blow there by gusts which have left
them feeling weak
no more energy
no words to speak
I would set up around height
safety nets for those wearied from their
plight
I would ensure that they were all caught
burn furnaces bright to take the shiver
away from the cold
and I would calm the raging seas
silencing the violent force that
brought them to me
I would delay the night sky
keeping the sun afflight
with please “there is too much
darkness today”
I would send up the doves for this
message to relay
asking all the birds to sing a soothing
tune
songs for which no hardships could be
immune
taking them off the shoulders which
ache
blowing them away with a gentle warm
breeze
on this day no one would break
no more survivors brought to their knees
if I could, I would…
I would realign nature and the human
race
keeping it all at an even, peaceful pace
if I could, I would…
