Things I Am Learning

1. We need people and want things. I think we’ve got it backwards. I need clothes on my back, a roof over my head, food in my belly. I want people. Sweeter, I think, to be able to say, “Yes, I could thrive without you. But I don’t want to.”

2. “I love you,” is not an apology.

3. It is hard to feed others when you yourself are starving. And it is a mistake to wait for someone else’s scarps. No one can love you better than you can, and you deserve to feel full.
