Today my brother, Shawn, and sister-in-law, Sydney, whom I haven’t seen in nearly a year, came from California and will be staying with us for a week. They look so happy and healthy. I’m so glad to see them and so thankful that my sister-in-law is doing well with her pregnancy. She is at her five-month mark and looks great; must be the pregnancy glow.
Shawn is doing well at Microsoft and I’m glad to hear they are enjoying their new house. My other sister-in-law, Abigail, is such a precious person and once again I’m so grateful I have the sisters I have always wanted. They are beautiful, young women inside and out and I am grateful for such loving, humble, gentle, and compassionate role models like them in my life. We have discussions late into the night about anything and everything and thoroughly enjoy simply spending time together. Every moment is precious when you haven’t seen someone in nearly a year! Absence sure does make the heart fonder.
My whole week was peppered with finishing assignments (sadly), but there were a lot of sweet, simple moments I was able to observe by not having to rush here and there. My family visited historic places and hiked and did other things together and even though I couldn’t go with them, I enjoyed watching my family enjoy their time together. Simple things like watching the candles glow, drinking pumpkin spice tea, snuggling up in a blanket while we watched movies made for some awesome sister bonding time and I’m so thankful for that time I had with Sydney. Oh and the pedicure was nice too!
