I watch through the gaps,
seeing and unknown.
watching the clipped flaps,
the voices thrown.
Caged inside- seeing others caged,
our dreams once lofty, drifting into dust.
the sky so clear, the blue so wide
is darkened, smog over all.
To dream once more,
to feel the burn as wings take flight.
how glorious the sight,
to be unbound amidst the sky;
I will not lie,
the cage to tight,
all but hope must die.
If hope should last then so shall I
and walk once more unto the sky.
