Today I was reflecting upon the things of life that often go unnoticed but can be so significant when you really think about it. Playing board games with family and laughing over the experience, regardless of who wins and who loses, is one simple thing that I love doing with my family and that I’m grateful my family likes to do. I’ve also been reflecting about what family means. I’ve realized that family doesn’t necessarily have to mean your immediate family…it can mean others in your life who mean a lot to you or even a circle of people who feel like a family, like a church group or bible study. I am very close to my sister-in-law, the one who I live with, and she is not only my family, but also we value the same simple things that bind a family together. Getting away from social media and doing arts and crafts together or cooking or just having girl time, is one way I bond with her and just a few of the reasons I am so grateful for her. She is a very creative person, able to see beauty in everything and turn something dull into something beautiful. She amazes me in so many ways and I am thankful for a role model like my sister-in-law to look up to.
