Oftentimes, I like something not necessary for the thing itself but for the memories and associations it invokes.
For example, I am currently drinking pinon coffee. I usually don’t like flavored coffee, but this coffee reminds me of a particular friend from school. Whenever I go to her house–usually to study, or at least, with the intention of studying–she will make pinon coffee. I remember the first time she made coffee for us, it was noticeably thinner than the Starbucks coffee I usually stopped for before studying. I now cherish the contrast of the coffees. It’s nice to know that whatever I am doing or wherever I am, if I can drink similarly thin, pinon coffee, I can be reminded of these times with her.
