D and I had “the talk” last night and it could not have gone better! H and S had gone to practice so it was just D and I having our girl time. We had such a great time. We laughed at silly stuff. I kept her company during her shower, scrubbed her hair because she asked if I would and rubbed some cream on her dry skin. She asked about her developing breasts and that is where the conversation started about reproduction. It all unfolded so naturally. She was full of questions. I answered them all as gently and honestly as I could. I love her so. It feels like we have stepped through a door. It is a bittersweet step. But as parents – it is what we do – we give them wings and let them fly. Fly my amazing girl, fly!

Yay for mommy 🙂

  1. first off, I wanted say thank for your kind words. I’M in awe by by the fact that anyone reads my journal, much less finds it helpful 🙂
Secondly, I am amazed by parents who successfully raise ADD children. Kids are so challenging as it is, but when you add the extra challenges of things such as ADD, some days have to feel like there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. You are a hero. I have a bipolar teenager, so I can definitely relate to challenges.
I have no doubt you’re doing just fine!
