New hair

My hair has been thinning over the past 10 plus years. I have been sort of ignoring it for most of that time. The last couple years,  I have purchased cheap wigs to see how I liked wearing it and what it felt like to go out. Well, let me tell you that you get what you pay for. Cheap wigs, and I am talking between $10 and $25, are just that.. cheap.  Now, that is not to say you can’t find a deal, especially if you are looking for cosplay or a fun night club look. But for every day wear, to make you feel like a normal person, you have to spend the money. I bought a Forever Young – Roll with it – wig for about $45. It came in on Friday and I just love it. The color is gorgeous,  the feel is natural, and the fit is perfect. I actually fooled some people who know me. I wore it all weekend and to work today. I was nervous because I just didn’t want people to look at me all judge-y. But at the same time, I walked around as if it were real and rocked it. I suppose I will have to wear it for a while, since my normal hair is shorter,  thinner and graying. Ugh, getting old sux.

It was fun, but I learned a few things about how I want to wear it, how to style it and stuff. We’ll see how tomorrow goes.

Going to try for some sleep now. ‘Nite!

  1. Hey there! Just out of curiosity, do you know what is causing your thinning hair? Many years ago my hair started thinning and like you I didn’t pay much attention to it. My hair had always been super thick and I had tons of it so losing some didn’t really bother me but as years went on and by the time I really paid attention, my hair was super thin (from what it was). I was (still am) over weight and my periods were extremely irregular (even non existent). My Mom kept telling me that something was wrong but of course I didn’t listen lol. I half heartedly would tell my Doctor about it and he would tell me that all Women are different and some are irregular. I didn’t really tell him that I hadn’t had a period in years. Long story short, one day I was seeing a Nurse Practitioner and she dug deeper and found that I have PCOS (Polycystic ovarian syndrome). That was the cause of my thinning hair and the reason I couldn’t lose weight. I started taking Metformin and lost weight quickly but as far as the thinning hair, I’ll never get back what I once had. Sorry this is so long and might be TMI LOL but I just wanted to share with you in the event that it may help.

  2. Hi,
I have seen a doctor and they can’t seem to find anything wrong with me. I have had more tests than I thought I would need. Still no clues, no other irregularities. I’ve lost weight before, so I know I can do it. I was in a really bad car accident about 9 years ago, some say the trauma can affect things like hair loss and stuff.
I appreciate your sharing with me, that is very thoughtful and generous of you. I am glad you found something that helps at least a bit.
    Have a great day!

  3. making sure you are getting your b vitamins(bee pollen) and protein(grass fed beef).
Start juicing to ensure you’re getting all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.
    Exercise to destress.
Stay positive and be thankful for what you have in the present moment. You might have thinning hair but focus on other features that youre thankful for.
