5 Self harm substitutes

 Iv’e been struggling with self harm since i was 13.  I’m now 20 years old and have been clean for 2 years. Throughout those 2 years iv’e wanted to relapse a few times…its kind of a day to day process sometimes. I know self harm is a very common thing and i want to share some of the substitutes that helped me. 

  1. Drawing a picture on that area that you want to self harm on.
  2. Wear rubber bands on your wrist and when you feel the urge to self harm gently tug on it.
  3. call this number 914.393.1904 ( self harm hotline)
  4. Writing in a journal.
  5. Draw lines on the area that you would self harm on. ( Very similar to the first substitute)
