Day 40 – “Best friend” is now “Kohai”

Wednesday, April 6th 2016

Today was… meh. Same old same old. I guess there was a couple of interesting things here and there. Oh, actually today was basically two seasons in one. This morning was nice, had a slight breeze, it was spring-like. Then around two it was a snow storm. I love snow, I love winter, it’s my favourite season, but after a while, summer would be nice please. At least it might be a snow day tomorrow. That’ll give me a lot of time to start making a cardboard weapon for Cardboard Wars on Youth Friday. We’re gonna “beat the hell out of each other”. Still love that line.

Day 4

1st Period (09:10-10:25)
English
We answered our R&J questions again, except I only have some for Act IV and V and we’ve just finished III, in other words I was working on my poem ideas instead. One is about insecurities and the other about natural disasters (I’m a positive person, but when it comes to art, darker is much easier and more meaningful to me). Then we had to start analyzing excerpts from R&J and I had to finish it very quickly, because you had to turn it in before leaving and the bell already rang. I didn’t get a chance to do it properly, but at least it’s not evaluated.

2nd Period (10:35-11:50)
Science
We started concave mirrors in physics. Again, very easy. It’s just remember what point your ray has to go through and how it should do it. Once you know where they go, it’s very easy.

Lunch (11:50-12:50)
I was planning on joining my best friend for math, but she ended up coming to me. We went to the cafeteria and decided to work on a bit of our math there. We sat alone for a bit and ate while our school was hosting an Oreo contest about who can eat it the fastest without touching it with their hands (they place it on their foreheads). One of my closest friends I normally sit with went up and she got the record; 14.33 seconds if I remember correctly. Then my best friend helped me out with some math… I kinda feel like giving her a name instead of just saying “best friend” over and over. I call her my Kohai and to her I’m her Senpai (for those who don’t know, “Kohai” is Japanese and are what people who are younger than someone, but the Senpai, who is older or an upperclassman, don’t normally call them “Kohai” to their face, but I call her that, not if we ever go to Japan together though), so why not call her Kohai from now on? Much easier and gives her more of a personality in my entries.

3rd Period (12:50-14:05)
Visual Arts
We worked on our emblem some more. I made another sketch idea for it and then I’m going to pick three and make them a bit nicer so I can finally pick one out of the three. I think I already know which one I’ll be picking, but it’s work that has to be done.

4th Period (14:15-15:30)
French
More reading. This time I finished reading the book and answering the questions, but I forgot to do chapter 6. So I worked on that, but overall I only have about 6 questions to answers, which is much less than 2/3 of the class who has only completed up to 5 chapters out of 12.

After School
It’s annoying how whenever the phone rings, it rings three times and then the screen says “Screening?” which makes it incredibly frustrating, because you can’t see the phone number and the phone stops ringing, but the person is still calling on the other end. Is there a way to stop that? I can answer the call even when that shows up, but I want to see who is calling first, except I can’t when it appears.
I have more homework than usual. I’ll start working on it after supper, as I normally do. After that, my father and I will be starting the cardboard weapon. I’m not quite sure what I want to make yet. I’ll be doing some research on that.

That’s all for today.
