I went to see the “God’s Not Dead 2” movie again last night. I usually don’t view movies twice, but it was so good that I paid to see it again. Movies like that (pro-Jesus, pro-faith, against the censoring of all things God) are such rarities in this day and age. Of course, it wasn’t as exciting last night as it was on opening day. I already knew what was going to happen.
I did get a treat at the end of the movie, however. I watched an older couple happily sing parts of the song “God’s Not Dead” by Newsboys as they left the theater. They played it at the end of the movie. There’s something about a movie that shows people standing up for Jesus that just makes us super-happy and excited. I think it makes us happy because it makes God happy.
I was thoroughly gleeful when I saw that couple rejoicing. Even though I was “by myself,” I was truly happy to see two God-loving people together singing a song about Him after watching a great movie together.
Now about those Newsboys. There’s such a debate going on about contemporary Christian music. Is it unholy? Are bad spirits attached to it? Are the artists really Christians?
I did my fair share of dabbing into the contemporary. I felt a strong internal warning about some bands, and I couldn’t listen to them. I enjoyed other bands.
The way a band acts in public can speak volumes about whether they are true believers or not, as well. I don’t know. It’s a personal choice. I do like the “God’s Not Dead” song. Ha.
Lately I have been listening to old hymns and good ole old-school A Cappella church singing. I love it.
I woke up at 6 A.M. to the sound of the birds chirping. They sounded so joyful and happy to be alive. They sounded like they were singing, praising and rejoicing. They probably were since God created everything for such purposes.
I never before heard the sounds of the birds quite like that. Priceless.
