My lover’s future lover

Today, I met my lover’s future lover

He holds you like I do. What does that mean?

“Love,” she told me, “is a choice.”

You kiss him like you kiss me. Do you love him like you love me?

“Love,” she said, “is just love.”

Who am I to mind? I am not enough to love you. My own mind wanders sometimes, if not my body.

“I didn’t know I could be this happy.”

I am happy for you.

I don’t dare to ask.

I won’t dare to ask.

I am happy for you

without me.

“Love is love,” she said. “What matters is what you do with it.”

It’s yours to do with what you will,

my beautiful girl.

“To love a friend,” she said, “it’s all the same.”

Should I mind?

Do I have the right?

But I don’t.

I don’t mind.

“Love is love,” she said. “What matters is what you do with it.”

Will you leave me? Will you keep me?

Who am I to object?

I am happy for you.

I am only happy for you.

Do you love him like you love me?

I almost hope you do.
