Playing music for the Nursing Home Again

I have been working hard all day at the piano today, and my back doesn’t even hurt!  Praise God!  Some of my residents at the nursing home have made requests of songs I had heard but didn’t have the music to.  I got my manuscript book out (I write music, too) and played by ear, making notations, until I had a playable version of The Sound of Music, Edelweiss, and Precious Memories.  I am so excited to go back and play these for the folks that requested them!! This is like Christmas for me!  I love to make people smile!

  1. Aww, you’re so nice to play at nursing homes like this and actually try to learn songs people request of you! It’s awesome! And The Sound of Music is such a lovely song to play, you must be a really good piano player 🙂

  2. And Edelweiss! I love that one. So glad to see you so happy and productive and making others happy too. Lovely.

  3. Reading this about your work with the residents at the nursing home made me smile.
For 7 years I worked almost every weekend at an assisted living facility. The first two years I was hired to care for the residents, taking them to the bathroom, feeding them, and caring for their needs. The last 5 years I worked in the same facility on the weekends do activities. I loved it. I don’t have a good voice but it didn’t matter, I still loved to sing and have the residents sing along.
I hope your back is ok. If you have back issues don’t lift the residents because that can really hurt your back even more, trust me I know.
Thanks for your kind comment on my diary.
