Wrong room!

So I haven’t really updated yall much since I started this trip so I figured I should probably do that now. I’m currently on a 3 hour drive to Nashville so I have time to waste and I figured I should just let my conscious talk for a little bit.

Let’s start with Saturday because that’s the day I left. I woke up Saturday morning at 7 and took a shower because I wanted to feel good on the trip. I got out and everybody was still asleep so I laid down and played on my laptop for a little bit. A little bit of time passed and I heard a sound so I thought it was my mom and I decided to get up and go into the kitchen. Turns out it wasn’t my mom, instead it was just my older brother coming back from CrossFit. From that point I walked into my bedroom and played my piano until I actually heard the sound of my mom’s voice talking to my dad. Everybody was up earlier than usual just because we wanted to get to Gatlinburg at a reasonable time. I had packed my bag the night before so the only thing I had to do was to pack my technology bag. All I really had to do was put all my cameras and battery packs in my bag and then pack my laptop and iPhone chargers and everything. After I did that I went to go put my things in the car and from there we all left for the long drive to Gatlinburg. I don’t remember what time we got to Gatlinburg but it was sometime around noon. I lied about having an apartment; we actually have a really nice condo. I thought we had an apartment because that’s what my mom told me but she was wrong. We got settled into the condo and I put all my things into my bedroom and from there we went to dinner. We ate at a place called mellow mushroom and if yall don’t know, mellow mushroom is an amazing pizza place. We walked in and there were only four of us so they placed us near the back of the restaurant and that was fine with me. Instantly we started smelling this weird paint smell so we simply asked to move and they said yes of course. They moved us to the upstairs outside patio and that was perfect. You could see a nice part of the strip and that gave a little scenic view as we ate. After we ate we started to walk down the strip and we walked for a good bit just popping our heads into stores as we walked. As we were walking we bumped into some of our close church friends so that was a cool little thing. After that we continued to walk for a little bit longer before we turned back and made our way back to our car. I don’t really know why we drove down because our condo is literally a few hundred feet from the beginning of the strip. We drove back to the condo and from there me, my mom, and my brother went swimming and got in the hot tub. The hot tub was sensational let me tell you. I haven’t been in a hot tub in years so it was amazing. It was so relaxing with the jets pushing up against my back. I got out of the hot tub and pool a little bit later and decided to go up to the condo. Well I thought we were on the third floor but it turns out we are on the fourth floor. I go up to the third floor bedroom and opened it as if it were my room. Turns out it wasn’t my room and it was just a bunch of girls so I kind of just stood there frozen. I was confused as all get out so I slowly back up and close the door and decide to test my luck and see if the floor below that (second floor) was my room. This time I knocked on the door but nobody came to the door so I came to the conclusion that the fourth floor had to be my room and if not then I’m just sleeping outside because I didn’t bring my phone. Thankfully as I went to the fourth floor I ran into my mom and little brother and I instantly knew this was my room. I went into my bedroom and took a shower and everything before getting into bed. This sounds weird but as I was just lying there at 11:30 at night I started flirting with this girl. I don’t know why but for some reasons I always get into relationships with some girl. I’ve got to stop this mess.

Sunday:                                                                                                                                                                                                                 I awoke around 2am to my phone going off and I thought it was my alarm and I needed to get up. Turns out it was my ex texting me and I was kind of relieved because I could go back to sleep. I completely ignored her and fell back into a deep sleep within seconds. I awoke again at 6:30 but this time it was my alarm and of course nobody else was awake. I got dressed in a nice outfit and I brushed my teeth and everything before putting on my shoes. After I was fully dressed I walked into the living room of the condo and my brother awoke. He is a very light sleeper so any little movement or presence awakens him. He asked me what I was doing and I said I was going to go walk the strip of Gatlinburg. He said he wanted to go and of course I didn’t say no so I gave him a few minutes to put on his shoes. We both walked out the door at 6:40 and made our way down to the strip. The reasoning for getting up so early is I love peaceful walks in the morning and the strip of Gatlinburg gets insanely packed by 8am so I wanted to walk around before anyone showed up. We walk into a donut shop and get a coffee and he got a donut. After I got my coffee and he got his donut we made our way back to the condo with intentions of our parents being awake and us going out doing whatever we wanted. As we were walking up we ran into my mother and it turns out she was actually looking for us. She had an idea of where we were because I shot both my mom and my dad a text saying I was going to go get a coffee. She told me that she wanted to go get breakfast so we turned around and walked to the McDonalds and got sausage biscuits and hash browns. When we got the food we walked back to the condo and ate before leaving to go do as we please. We were actually planning on going to Nashville but the forecasts said that it was going to rain around noon and it wouldn’t stop. We sat in the car for about half an hour trying to decide on what we wanted to do. We left and went to pigeon forge and went into a few shops. We went into a few stores before coming to a general store. The general store was abnormally massive so we looked around inside for about half an hour. On this trip I want to find a grey bandana with the Great Smoky Mountains logo on it but surprisingly it is hard to find a bandana at all. So I tried to look for the bandana inside but I had no luck. I actually came across a really nice wooden pen. It was one of those that had all the names and I knew I probably wouldn’t find my name because I never see my name on the keychain ones. My dad spun it around and went to the L’s and ironically we found my name. He grabbed it and handed it to me. My dad builds beautiful creations out of his hands and wood. He has built jets and horse carriages out of wood. He has his on wood business and it’s really cool. I asked him if he wood was actually good or anything because I obviously knew he would know. He told me that the wood was really nice and all so I decided to check the price tag. The dag gum pen was $11 but of course that is only because it is a nice wooden pen. I came to the conclusion that I was going to buy it because I wanted a souvenir even though I’ve spent over a month in the mountains this summer. After we left the general store we went to another store before going to go get lunch. Nobody really said that they wanted to go anywhere but everyone was hungry for sure. So the options were either to go to a nice restaurant or just get something small. The four of us came to the conclusion of eating a small lunch because we knew that we would be eating a really nice supper and it would make no sense to eat a big lunch and a big summer because then we wouldn’t be hungry for supper. We went to a small little place and ate and from there we sat in the car and debated on things that we should do. I have done basically everything up here because of my other trips so nothing would be new to me so I told them that I didn’t care what we did and I was kind of jut following. So we pulled out of the parking lot and just started driving not knowing what we were going to do. My mom gave the idea of going hiking but nobody else was really feeling hiking. So as we were driving with nothing in mind of what we wanted to do I decided to take a nap because why not. I’m a teenager and I can basically sleep in just about any scenario. I woke up and we were just starting to go on a nature drive called Cades cove. I have been here plenty of times and I actually posted some of the photos on one of my blogs. This is actually the place where I took one of my best photos that I’ve ever taken. I pull out my DSLR and instantly started taking photos of things. As a photographer I know that the probability of all these photos being crap is high but I can test my luck and maybe I will get a good photo. It’s like playing the lottery in all honesty. I still haven’t taken an in depth look at the photos so I have no idea how they turned. After that we went back to the condo to rest because we were tired. I watched a little bit of now you see me 2 before going to dinner. We went to a place called the apple barn. If none of you have been here I will tell you what it is. Basically it’s just a really expensive but nice restaurant. After dinner we went back to the condo and it was around 8 pm. I had intentions on walking the strip late at night because I love the city lights and all the people. Well my plans turned to waste because of the rain. Remember when I said the forecast said it will be raining all day starting at noon? Well it wasn’t wrong. It literally rained every little second of that day after 12. So we stayed in the condo and I just stayed in my bedroom for the rest of my night. I took my shower and everything was nice and peaceful. The rest of the night was pretty much the same as Saturday night

Monday (current day):                                                                                                                                                                    My mother wanted to go with me this morning down the strip and that was fine with me. I told her I’m getting up at 6:30 and I would just wake her up when I get up. Well turns out she got up earlier than me because she woke me up asking if I was still going at 6:25 and I told her yea so I got up and we both walked down to the same donut shop because my dad wanted an eclair. This donut shop is actually famous and they are amazing. We walk into the donut shop and I asked for two eclairs but the worker said they probably wouldn’t be ready until 8:30 or so because they had just started fixing them. So my dad ended up not getting his donut. We left that place and started our way to a different coffee shop. I decided to just go to dunkin doughnuts and get a coffee because I’ve never actually ordered a coffee from there so I wanted to check it out. I ordered some coconut coffee drink and I kind of regret that because it was insanely sweet and it had an overabundance of coconut. I don’t think I tasted any coffee in it. After that me and my mom made our way back to the condo so we can figure out what we are going to do today. When we got back it wasn’t even 8am yet so nobody else was awake. I went back in my bedroom until everyone was awake then I came out. We then decided that we were going to drive to Nashville today and it’s kind of cool because Nashville is in a different time zone so I am currently in the same time zone as my close friends in Oklahoma. Our first stop in Nashville is the Greek Parthenon and if yall didn’t know, that was where the Percy Jackson battle scene happened in the first movie so that was kind of cool. Of course I brought some of my cameras and I went hambino on the photos. Now we are currently driving around looking for a nice place to eat.

Well, that is about all for today. I will keep yall updated as I continue with my journey through life.

  1. Lee, that was very interesting. I’m glad you bought the wooden pen for a souvenir. That is something you can keep and use all your life. Keep on keeping on, my friend!
