I really enjoyed yesterday’s readings especially Bill George blog post on ‘The Truth about Leadership’. He explained through some recommended steps on developing an understanding of authentic leadership. One that really stayed with was seeking honest feedback, now that sure is difficult. I hate hearing about criticisms, most of the time I like doing things right and to hear that I need to improve myself from others is quite hard. George emphasised that it’s important to hear about brutal responses because it can promote genuine change. One of the TED Talks Mike Robbins videos of ‘The Power of Authenticity’, similar to George, he explains that performance feedback is really important because it reveals the real feelings of individuals in that moment of time. This week I’m going to try to see if I can really work on improving my communication from last week and seeking honest feedback.
