Hubby slowing Down

My beloved husband of 46 years is slowing down. He has diabetes and has been diagnosed with Parkinson’s.  He doesn’t want to do much but watch tv and sleep.  I wish for a better life for him.  Some days we go for a short, slow walk in the park.  That’s good!  He will come in the living room to hear me play the piano, bless him.  He seems pretty happy.  He never was a very active person, but at least he used to drive.  With his diabetic neuropathy I have to drive all the time now and I hate driving.  But I love my husband.  He compliments me all the time on everything I do and how I look.  He is a treasure.  Old age brings some perks but some losses, too.  It’s natural and something I can adapt to.  I am 2 and 1/2 years younger than hubby, and in much better health.  I am prepared to care for him in his old age when it comes.  I am small and he is big, so I’ll need some help.  God will work it out.  “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. ”  Thanks be to God.

  1. Your dedication to your husband is a model for us all. Again, we (me and you) are very similar. The Man weighs twice as much as me and is 2 and 1/2 years old. My health seems to be in a better state than his. A long time down the road I suspect I will be the one caring for him. I consider it an honor and hope that when the time comes I will do right by him.

I can just picture your husband being lured to you, following the sound of the piano. Very heart warming!

  2. Thank you for sharing. Going through what you’re going through is harder than most people know and you’re brave for not only being there the way you are, but also for having the courage to share your frustrations with it all. Thanks for being you.

  3. Dear saved by grace,
Im so sorry to hear about your husband’s failing health. I will pray for his health and for you too. After 48 years of marriage I can imagine that this must be very difficult to see him like this. I pray that the good Lord give you the strength to carry on and to be there with him when he needs you most. You are so inspiring, thAnk you so much for sharing and God bless you dear Saved by Grace. Xoxo
