my sorrow is poison with release of grief

unshaken by pain, there is no relief

shadows of misfortune cloud my light

no strength, no hope, death my plight

curse-like blessing to be so numb

haunted by strange doubts that overcome

breathless sigh to my ears so deafening

sealed in a sleep which knows no awakening

evil whispers in the gloom

blinding tears form the tune

surrender so quickly the world grows dim

bankrupt essence for slumber to begin

my soul threw back the veil of woe

agony and absence cold glances blow

bring me a promise and a sign

upon this wasted heart of mine

  1. Compelling poem! You are a good writer. There is so much angst in this poem—I’m afraid it must be true that you feel this way. I pray that you will feel better—much, much better, and soon. God bless you.

  2. thank you for the comments.. i wrote this poem a long time ago when i was feeling really down in my life but things are sooo much better now…again thanks!
