This night the stars refuse to shine

Instead they hide away- broken,

No longer wanting to catch the echoes

Of a bleeding child’s screams.

They shook at the tremor of a door slamming

Illuminating a shadow in despair;

My mother’s figure crying alone

Fed up of all the pain.

Each star tried to endure

The yelling of lethal, razor sharp words,

That still slice and bleed through my memories

Every time I look back.

Stars- they can’t shut their glittering eyes

As an argument between father and daughter,

Ends in bruises on her arm

I still hear myself cry “Daddy, please…”

Finally the stars fade away

As my father’s figure lies caged in torment,

The mind’s blackening illnesses

Tainting all his thoughts, words and actions.
