No More Onision

Hmm. I said the other day that I was watching Onision videos, but now I’m starting to change my mind about watching them, because apparently, Onision can be a right bastard a lot of the times.

I always get uneasy liking celebrities/YouTubers that have A LOT of haters, because I figure that famous people don’t become super hated without reason. This is why I normally just stick to watching Dan and Phil, because no one has ever said anything really hateful about them, and no one has ever accused them of being mean or horrible to other people.

Onision, on the other hand…………..

I’ve watched some of his more hateful videos and, well, they PISSED ME OFF. They weren’t positive, helpful, encouraging, or nice in any way. He does (did?) make some good videos, and his Draw My Life felt very genuine, but that was uploaded a few years ago, sooooooo………..

He’s had too much drama, and I don’t like that.

It’s sad, though, because he can be so funny, and some of his videos are so entertaining–but it doesn’t feel right to watch (and thus support) someone who can be so downright AWFUL.

It’s why I don’t like watching videos about YouTube drama–real-life drama always makes me really uncomfortable, especially when both sides can make videos that seem so honest, even while they’re talking shit about other people.

Anyway, I’m tired. I should go watch more Dan and Phil to soothe my nerves. It makes me feel kind of bad though, because apparently most of the people who watch their videos are somewhere between 13 and 15 or so, and I’m already 17…………am I getting too old to enjoy their uploads? Or am I just super immature? (Like we don’t already know the answers to both of those questions lol)

Have a good day and stay chill.

  1. Pretty in black, sometimes we need to take a step back to a younger place, a more familiar security. I was so distressed at one time in my life that I watched Mister Rogers on TV. This was after my daughter was married and gone. The quiet, slow manner of Fred Rogers made me feel safe. I don’t know the video you referred to, but if it helps you relax that’s great. Don’t worry about age. And also—Happy New Year!

  2. @savedbygrace–thank you for telling me that! Happy new year to you, too, and best of wishes to you and your family! 🙂

  3. If so many people are criticising a youtuber, there must be something wrong. I think Onision can be quite funny but I’m not that familiar with his videos. I will say that I cannot support a person who gets pictures of girls and then exploits them, tells them if they’re hot, fat, skinny… Even though those girls deliberately send him those photos, I cannot support a person who pretends as if there’s nothing wrong with him, a 30-something-year-old receiving photos of girls who are around 15.
