Day 24 – 30 Days of Scripture Luke 6:46-49 Acts 4:18-21

Today’s Scripture makes a lot more sense.  It teaches if we speak to God and ask for his guidance then we need to listen to what he says and follow his words.

“Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”

How many times have I prayed for something, asked for something and promised something in return, only to forget my end of the deal?  Did I get what I asked for?  Was I pointed in the right direction but didn’t bother to pay attention and went the other way?  Who did I blame? Certainly not me.  I didn’t get a clear signal.

I try to be more attentive when I pray now.  I used to always begin my prayers asking for things I wanted or needed, now I start by sending my prayers to other’s needs. Who in my life needs God’s guidance and support?  Even those who have wronged or hurt me….I send my intentions to them. At the end of my prayers, I thank God for the blessings in my life.  It gives pause to my focus.

As I’ve grown, I realize God already knows what I need in my life.  I don’t have to ask, I just have to listen.
