Sorry it has been a while since I last posted, I have had a lot going on recently, so I thought I would do a quick update for you all. Do not worry – I have not disappeared, just been a bit crazy.
So, within the last two weeks I have encountered many things – firstly I got a mini kind of promotion at work. We have a project currently running and I was initially just keeping the standard admin bits and pieces alive, but the head of the service that I work for had noticed how much of an amazing job I was doing – along side my main job role – and offered me to become the project co-ordinator. It just means that I will be assisting the project lead and over looking the mentors who will mentor the interns. So a bit of a step from my usual job.
Secondly, I have been practicing for my theory test which is in a few weeks time (eeeek) but I seem to be hitting the pass rate – so I have booked it and it is soon. Only Sasha, my mum and sister know the exact date but I will let you guys know how I get on.
Next, I have been interviewing the past few days for the interns who will be working on the summer project. Now this was a first for me, as I have only ever been interviewed, never the one to be interviewing. It was a great experience to do and something I look forward to doing again in the future as I think it is a great skill to have. As all standard job interviews, we had a mixed bunch of great and not so great people, but the panel are meeting soon to discuss things further.
Another exciting thing that happened, was I got to go to Disney On Ice: 100 Years Of Magic. My god, I love Disney On Ice, but it was just more special because it was an overall look with a Frozen highlight in the middle. The ice skaters were gorgeous and they really put on a great performance that was engaging and incredible, so I look forward to going again when it comes back around.
Lastly, (sorry this is such a long post) I was offered another position in another project that would allow me to go to partnered countries (I think it was Denmark, Malta, Italy and a few others) to do some work and networking for this new project that has come together. It runs for two years, with meetings every three or four months between the multiple countries. However, since the current project I am working on is my very first, after thinking about it for two hours, I turned it down. It would have been too much too soon, and I am still getting used to being the Project Co-Ordinator for my current project. The reason I had two hours to decide is because they needed an answer by the end of the days shift as the first meeting was at the end of May and my passport would have been needed to be processed. But for now, that was a no go. I was grateful for the opportunity but it was just too soon.
And I think that is everything for now. If you made it this far – thank you for reading!
For now though,
Love Lily x
