   What makes a person think negatively? Why are people so quick to see the bad in a situation or person? The thing about negativity it affects us and everyone around us. I find myself thinking negatively probably 3 times in one day. It limits and stops us from reaching our true potential. It stops us from becoming something great and living a fulfilling, purposeful life. I would not say it is as bad as it use to be, but I have my negative times, just like every other person has. I have been thinking negatively toward myself on getting a job. I have been applying everywhere, but it seems that no one wants to hire me which causes me to feel as if I’m incompetent or if I lack knowledge and the ability to work. Being negative takes too much energy out of a person. I don’t want to allow it to be apart of my life anymore. In fact, Negative energy has an effect on our health, too. It leads to more stress, sickness, and less opportunites over the course of their lives than those who choose to live positively. Here are some ways to get rid of negativity and START the route to positivity:

1. Remember to be grateful for all things

If you can’t think of anything to be grateful for, be grateful for the people in your life. No matter how big or small of a part that they play in your life. Be grateful for life, being alive in a first place is a blessing as well as waking up every day. We need to begin to be grateful and appreciate everything in our lives from our small struggles that make us better to the car that may not be the best, but still gets us from A to B every day. Shifting our attitude from one of selfishness to one of appreciation for everything. When you begin to realize how great your attitude changes by being grateful, others will notice the change you decided to take in your life also. By being positive you can build and form beautiful relationships. 

2. Laugh…ALOT

Life goes by too fast, to not be laughing. Life gets hectic, our schedules fill up, we get into serious relationships, and work can feel overwhelming at times. Things in life might not always go as planned. It can feel more like we are robots instead of human beings. Laughing is contagious. It makes us healthier, happier, lowers blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, and increases muscle flexion. Becoming positive means taking life less seriously and letting yourself off the hook. We all make  mistakes nobody is perfect. Instead of beating yourself up over a mistake, laugh about it and try again. And that can start by finding happiness which also means finding positivity. This is the only life that you get so live it up!

3. Change your thinking
We can either be the cheerleader in our life or the hater. You decide. Change starts from within yourself. If you think negatively then things will go negatively. Learn to change your perception. If you want to change, change the wording of your thoughts. We are too hard on ourselves, and we begin to speak negatively to ourselfes it hurts our positive life. A good idea is, the next time you have a negative thoughts, write them down and rephrase it with a positive spin.

4. MAKE THE CHANGE!

Don’t be all talk! Make the change, start being more positive. Its easy to say that you’re being positive than actually being positive. At times it will be hard to avoid being negative but remember that negativity is usually accompanied by the company that you keep. Drop any ties that make you unhappy. Start by changing your language, avoid gossiping, write down all the negative thoughts you have and replace them with positive ones, and try not to take things personally. Turn the negative stress into positive action. The next time you’re in a situation that may end negatively, think about it before you react and take a break. Taking yourself out of the emotionally charged negative by moving into the action-oriented positive will help you solve more problems rationally and live in positivity. You can say you want to be more positive, but if you stay the same in the end there was no change. Take control of your life, take control of your thoughts.
