Day 1 – 30 Days of Summer

July 1, 2017 – Canada’s 150 birthday

Oh my gosh, the hoopla around this day.  Everything is 150; signs, posters, banners, store sales, coffee cups….it’s almost too much. I’m all for celebrating, but I couldn’t wait for it to be over.

We jumped on the bandwagon, like everyone else, and headed to the park for the local festivities. Maybe I’m getting old or maybe it just wasn’t my scene, but I found nothing of spectacular interest there.  The food and drinks were expensive, the people were icky (remember I don’t really like people) and the entertainment was unknown to me.  But we were surrounded by great company and that’s what’s most important.

The fireworks….meh, not that spectacular; except the last minute….amazing!

I’m proud to be a Canadian, happy to celebrate, and glad it’s over. 🇨🇦
