I have never failed to notice how people enjoy beautiful things for such short periods of time. I was full of anticipation and excitement for our previous total eclipse. I didn’t just want to glance at it and have it become a fleeting, fading memory. So I stayed with it….watching it, patiently, soaking it in, breathing the wonder. Staying silent.
Everyone rushed outside to watch it…their technology in their hands. Too focused on catching a picture of it, never slowing down to really soak it in. Afterwards, they went back to entertaining themselves…like it never even happened at all. That was when I had my realization about the human race. It was overwhelming.
I was intoxicated by appreciation of such momentous happenings. No one around me cared at all.
