Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment because of the events that started earlier in Acts. Some two plus years had passed and the apostle was still in Roman military custody. And yet look how God was able to use the circumstances to allow Paul to be a witness to influential civic leaders. This opportunity would not have come about had Paul not been arrested. God’s ability to work horrible conditions to His glory is truly remarkable. How else can you explain a prison confine becoming a platform by which Paul could evangelize such influential government officials? That is the mystery and the majesty of God’s hand. He can do the impossible. He can do the improbable. He, after all, is the mighty God!
Acts 24:27 “When two years had passed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus, but because Felix wanted to grant a favor to the Jews, he left Paul in prison.” (NIV)
