Isaiah 42:8 is one of the more compelling verses in all of Scripture. In short, God will not share His glory with idols, or counterfeit images. And why should He? God is the holy One. The eternal One. The immortal One. Not only does God deservedly demand recognition, but He also demands praise. The lesson being, discard the caricatures of the Lord. Throw out the inaccurate pictures. God cannot be confined to earthly images or concepts (save the redemptive and transformative life of Jesus Christ). God is greater than anything this world contains. He is higher, and He is more wonderful. And He will not share His glory with another.
Isaiah 42:8 “I am the Lord; that is my name! I will not yield my glory to another or my praise to idols.” (NIV)
