What happens when the people of God become like people of the world? What happens when the followers of the Lord no longer seek to defend truth, principles, virtues, or justice? Ezekiel 22:30 provides us an answer. Homes become havens of inappropriate behavior. Communities become shelters of sin. Cities become initiators of iniquity. And nowhere can a holy lifestyle be found. A grouping of individual mistakes and missteps can be costly morally to a nation. And Judah proved this to be true by cultivating a society that abandoned God, and accepted falsehoods, and lies, with reckless fervor. May not this be true of the church, in both its internal friendships, and its external relationships.
Ezekiel 22:30 “‘I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.’” (NIV)
